Good morning to you all!  Hopefully you are having a safe and productive week.  I want to take some time to discuss some changes taking effect soon.

Trip Scanning

First, I hope that you all are aware of the changes we will be making by transitioning over to Trip Scanning to send our documents into Mercer.  If you don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, scroll down on the blog, and check it out.

We are nearly prepared to accept your documents via scanning via truck stop scanning and in-cab scanning.  We will release a date sometime early next week to let you know when we are ready to accept scans.  If you scan before the date, we will probably not be able to process your paperwork.  We will send emails out, put information on this blog, and on our facebook page, and also let all coordinators know so they can communicate that date with you.

If you are going to use the TripPak Mobile option to send your paperwork from your smartphone, we will not roll that program out until a later date.  We will start with truck stop, and in-cab scanning first, and as we feel that all is well, we will start with the smartphone option.

TripPak envelopes will be available until the end of June.

Personnel Changes

Most of you may know, several weeks ago, Eric Lichtsteiner, former truck coordinator, moved into the Contractor Relations office with me.  He is nearly as knowledgable, but not nearly as good looking as me.  So if you need some help give him a shout!

Libby Fagan, who works our contractor help desk, will be moving to a new position next week.  Most of you know Libby, but if you don’t, she is the first smiling face you see when you come into the Truck Operations building.  Libby has worked the contractor help desk for many years, and next week, she will be moving to work in our company store.  Libby will be replaced by Theresa Lewis, so please give her a warm Mercer welcome next time you come in to see us.

Also, Chasity Galey, who has worked in our company store for several years, will soon be moving to our Recruiting department.  Congratulations Chasity!

    First, like to say Congrats to Eric, Libby, Chasity, & Theresa! Go Mercer!
    Second, TripPak scanner arrived. Will be installing soon. Wish me luck! HaHa LOL. Know that the rumors were true that is not compat with Mac, But is it true that it is Not certified Windows7 compliant?? Any input? Thanks.

    Maybe not w/Windows 7 and HP scanners although scanning with HP and win7 work fine, I’ve tried everything I know and also help from computer savvy friends but when you go through TripPak IN Cab it will not recognize the scanner which tells me trippak is buggy. I called trip pak support and they told me some scanners will work and some won’t. I REST MY CASE

    Will we need a cover sheet for in cab scanning? I know we will need one for truck stop scanning but was not sure if we were to use one for the in cab option.

      You will not need a cover sheet for scanning. When you register your software, you put in Mercer’s customer code, and it attaches that customer code to all of the paperwork you send.

    Well, hope I didn’t just blow $63 on a HP Deskjet 3050 printer/sanner because I can’t get it to work. Would like to have this all in one unit. Called HP, they said this one is TWAIN comp. but I get the non-compliant message. Willard, how did you get past the non-comp message?

      wayne i just went ahead ad tried a scan and it worked, i tried a 2050 i bought and and also a hp4175v i already had at home, bith said non-compliant but both worked. may be a ploy by trip pak to sell their scanners, lol

    Same here on the HP Deskjet F4180 that my husband uses. It has a scanner and scans using the hp software. But the tripPak In Cab does not see it in the drop down list.

    Okay, I decided to try my computer and it worked. When we put the TripPak In Cab software on Steve’s computer He had that printer plugged in. I did not plug in till after software was installed. Think I read that somewhere too.
    Steve’s out making money right now but will uninstall and try again later.

      Steve’s computer is now set to send. Here is what I had to do.
      To be safe I uninstalled the TripPak In Cab software. I re-installed. Then I thought that the disc for the printer should be installed and I did that (Steve just used the plug and play feature for the printer. Still didn’t work!!!!
      Laptop is Windows 7, Driver was not. I went on line and downloaded driver that matched the system and it works. Hope this helps some of you. Nel

    Thanks for the info, will try it again. I installed the 3050 scanner and then downloaded TripPak. So I will uninstall both and reverse the order and see what happens and let you know how it turns out.

    Update, no luck. Uninstalled everything, reinstalled TripPak and then the printer. Keep getting “Scanner does not meet minimum capabilities required to run the application.” If it matters, I am using Vista. So apparently the HP Deskjet 3050 WILL NOT WORK with TripPak.

    Yes, I need to know if the, TCH card is considered the Mercer fuel card,the cover sheet said that we didn’t have to send fuel receipts if we have a Mercer fuel card.

    as long as you fuel with the tch card you wont have to send a receipt, fuel any other way, send in a receipt

    I have a new laptop and of course it runs windows 7 as the operating system. When I install the drivers, It all proceeds as normal, but when I try to scan paperwork into the computer, then it pops up a hardware problem. Says it doesn’t find any hardware. What can we do to resolve this?

    I have had nothing but trouble from these small compact scanners offered thru the mercer store (via trip pak). I am currently on either my 3rd or 4th scanner and again it quit working. I run a gateway laptop with win7 as its opperational system. All the scanners are the same and seem to work ok for about 2 or 3 months, one only lasted a week. They all seemed to suffer the same failure. They installed fine and run fine one day then all of a sudden with no apparent reason it just quit and the error says “NO DRIVER FOUND FOR THIS DEVICE” tried to uninstall and reinstall without success, also tried to download driver from internet or update driver still with no success. Everytime i hook up the scanner to the laptop it reads as there is no driver found for that divice, So basiclly it lost its memory or driver to be able to connect to the laptop. I have called TRIP PAK about this issue and they told me that the device needed to be re flashed meaning the driver and software used to run the device needed to be reinstalled onto the scanning device. Basically it crashed and lost its memory drive and software meaning its totally useless untill TRIP PAK can call and they have to take over my system meaning remote control of my laptop to be able to reinstall the software to the scanning device. This is not something that can be done personaly through the internet or downloaded it is a program that is pre installed on all units from the factory or dealer and can only be resolved by the same or the purchase of a new scanner. IF YOU ASK ME I THINK THE TRIP PAK SCANNERS ARE JUNK AND AINT WORTH THE MONEY OR THE AGGREVATION. SINCE THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE FOR MANY DRIVERS AND HAS BEEN SINCE THE RELEASE DATE OF USEING THESE STUPID THINGS MAYBE MERCER SHOULD SCAP THESE SCANNERS ALTOGETHER AND GO BACK TO MAIL. USEING THE TRIP PAK SCANNERS DOESENT SEEM TO IMPROVE THE TIME FOR PAYROLE, ITS THE SAME OR LONGER BECAUSE OF NOT ENOUGH STAFF TO HANDLE THE OVERLOAD OF SCANS EACH DAY FROM ALL THE DRIVERS AND ALL THE DIRECTIONS THE SCANS NEED TO GO TO SUCH AS LOGS ,PAYROLE ,SAFTY. CLAIMS,ECT ECT ECT. xxxxxx NOTE TO MERCER NOT ENOUGH INSTAFF MEMBERS MEANS POOR PRODUCTIVITY AND MORE MISTAKES AND MORE PISSED OFF DRIVERS. PLZ GET THIS RESOLVED. LOOKING FOR 100% SATISFACTION AND 0% MISTAKES. MERCER IS A GREAT COMPANY TO WORK BUT COMMUNICATION IN HOUSE AND WORK OVER LOAD AND SCANNING EQUIPMENT IS LACKING

      Hi Dennis, Sounds like you have a little trouble with the scanners? If you get the error message, No Drivers Found again just call TripPak at 877 435 7876 and tell them your scanner needs to be, “reflashed”. It’s a fairly simple process. Hope this helps. Have a good day.
