Mercer is working on a test project with the Department of Transportation relating to Intelligent Highway Systems. The WRI Project involves a scanning location at the I-71 SB scales in Kentucky (just after the I-75 split in Northern Kentucky). Units involved in the test will have scanned data transferred to the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA. Basically, I need about twenty or so units who go through that area at least once a month.

We must provide the driver’s name, CDL number, date of birth and Mercer unit number. The test is to verify the accuracy of the scanning technology. Volunteers will need to go through the scale, regardless of the Norpass indication.

In the coming year, you will be hearing much more about Intelligent Highway Systems. The best way for us to understand what is coming is to participate in the testing of the various technologies. If you pass through the test location, we need your help.
