CONTRACTOR WEB CHANGES

Alright…I have already had 142 calls on the Contractor Web changes.  Let me say that we discussed this change originally at the driver’s forum at the truck show.  We have continued to discuss this over time, and collectively think that it is going to help you all.  Let’s discuss a little.

Now you can enter a city/state, and a mileage radius (up to 500 miles), and see all of the freight in the area.   If you want to see everything, then this is all you have to enter.  For example:  Enter Louisville, KY as your origin, and put in 200 miles as your Mile Radius of Origin.  Hit search.  This will show you every load within 200 miles of Louisville , KY.

The other functions are used just to filter out some of the freight in the screen.  You can enter a destination, if you want to look for something going to a particular area, say for example if you wanted to go home.  Put your home city in the destination field, and put a radius around the destination that is acceptable to you.  Remember that this is optional!

You can also use the minimum pay column, if you are looking for say, at least a load that pays $1000 or more.  You can use the $/per mile column if  you want to filter out cheaper freight.  You can also use the minimum miles field to filter out shorter freight that you don’t want to do.

Keep in mind that the only fields that you have to use is the Origin, and the Mile Radius of Origin. Also…if you are using the Google Chrome browser, or the Mozilla FireFox browser, you will not be able to see the words next to the boxes.  You have to use Internet Explorer to use it.  More soon…very soon.

Good idea Patrick. Everyone needs to probably learn how to use the system first before we make other changes. A lot of calls coming in from people who don’t know how it works. I will suggest the weight filter though.

    Jason,
Here are the issues I have found in using the system thus far..
    1) Why are we not allowed to type in the Origin city on our own? Using the system as is, takes you to another screen which means it takes longer. You have to utilize the drop down menu for the city name (which is too specific – upper case/lower case) and would be easier and faster if we could type the city name ourselves).

    2) When searching for LTL freight, most times we are looking for more than 1 LTL at a time. Therefore, we need to be able to search the route in which we are traveling (not always within a 500 mile radius). Or we could just search from a destination point. However, with the system as it is right now, you MUST put in an origin point which would not give you optimum results.

    3) Lastly, I would like to see the old “By State” search still be available in addition to the new radius search. I think that way, we would have the best of both worlds.

    My 2 cents worth 🙂

Apparently from what I am hearing no one likes the contractors web change. Please put it back like it was. I was so much easier to use.

Wayyyy mOre tIMe COnsumINg to have the case sensitive activated in the search that takes you to a diff screen for EACH search! And then to see if theres anything coming out of an area that you already put a bunch of time into to find a load going there,, you have to invest even mORe time and go through even MorE screens only to see there is NO frieght that your interested in on the other end, now go back through all the hOOps to find something else to build a round on,, and on and on..
IMHO, and its just that, an honest opinion, we have done away with a great WORKING easy to use TOOL that a lot of us use on almost every load or return load, and replaced it with one that is harder to use to get the info we need/want out of a load board! Frustrating at best.
Surely theres a way to leave the old style search methods in place along with the new ones? I liked having the ability to make the job somewhat easier on my co-ordinator by using the search engines we had in place before this new monster come along.

i like new system. the case sensitive deal is kinda of a pain in the arse tho. i will agree with that. it should be the same town whether it is capital fist letter or not. as you see, my 2 finger typing skills dont allow me to hit the shift key when i am typing. lol… …just sayin’ 😉
