Most of you haul quite a good bit of our military freight.  I want to take time to remind you how important the Required Delivery Date (RDD) is.  Most U.S. Commercial BOLs have an RDD on them.  If it is a Menlo load, then it will be listed as a MDD.  Please pay attention to these dates, as they are times that the DOD is requesting for us to deliver their freight.  If for any reason the RDD/MDD is not going to be met, your coordinator, and the agent must be notified A.S.A.P!  Last thing we want is service failures.  Menlo has praised us for being one of their top 2 carriers, and we want to keep it that way.  Go Mercer!

    I think we don,t want to be menlos #2 carrier instead we should strive to be #1 CARRIER

    According to Menlo, Mercer is a top 2 carrier (based on revenue). This top 2 ranking is out of a total of approximately 150 truckload carriers. Menlo does not publish carrier rankings nor do they indicate who the other top 2 carrier is. We can research this type of information with our Voluntary tender DoD freight, however, when it comes to Menlo, we are left with assumptions and first hand information that we can hopefully obtain. The positive side to all of this is that you, the drivers, have enabled Mercer to become such a valuable carrier for Menlo. As Jason points out above, Mercer drivers have done an excellent job of adhearing to the requirements Menlo places on us for each and every load. When it comes to rates, and the ability to raise/lower them, we are often times left to the mercy of Menlo in this regard too. Without published rate information on other carriers, we have to position ourselves according to trends in the market that we can discover. We recognize that some rates may be lower than our drivers would want, but it becomes a catch 22. We raise the rates, we take ourselves out of contention for the load. Keep in mind that the Menlo FSC is on average 12% higher than that of the voluntary tender DoD rates that we have on file. From an operational standpoint, it is very important that you continue to notify your coordinator each and every time you have any deviation from the norm on any Menlo load. This notification must take place immediately. We will continue to get the freight at the fairest rate possible. Please continue to do all you can to provide the service Menlo has grown to expect from us. If all is accomplished, we will continue to see our relationship with Menlo progress, which will benefit all involved.

    mr derek walcott i only do menlow when i have to cause i see can’t giving my time away free just last week i was @ red river and and after delivering a load some 160 miles away on saturday run to load spent around5 1/2 hrs then on load cause computers were down still dispatched on load on monday took them @red river around 6hrs to load then i had to be in norfolk,va @8.am some 1200 miles later or be docked pay where is the just what burns me is after i loaded @ red river they said computers were out @ 8:am saturday i called and no one said they were having trouble not to report so there i sat some 36hrs doing ? like a horse at the starting gate

      Darrell, Menlo has no control over the computers being down at RRAD. I hate to hear you say you won’t do their freight because of an isolated event at a base. Sounds like we needed to try to file for some detention. Was that discussed between you and your coordinator at all?
