Monte G. Logan, age 72, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Bloomington. He was a resident of Nashville, Indiana. He was born on July 3, 1937 in Indianapolis to John D. Logan and Evelyn (MacDowell) Logan. He married June (Pond) Logan on November 4, 1984. She lovingly survives in Nashville. Other survivors include children, Scott Logan of Ft. Myers, Florida; Todd Logan of South Bend and Lynn (Kevin) Mathena of Franklin; step-children, Michael (Cathy) Thompson of Texas; Victoria (Randy) Thompson-Swingle of Indianapolis and Grant (Tammy) Thompson of Franklin; grandchildren, Melissa Logan, Monte and Tyler Logan, Katie, Sarah and Jenny Mathena, Alan Thompson, Jeremy and Bradley Ton, Bruce and John Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Exander and Aubrie and an “adopted” granddaughter, Hannah Carter. He was preceded in passing by his grandparents, parents and brother, Gary Logan. He was a graduate of Howe High School and served in the U.S. Marines. Monte was an independent truck driver for over fifty years. He was employed by Grimmer-Schmidt in Franklin and was more recently driving for Mercer Transportation of Louisville, Kentucky. In 1979, Monte was honored by Grimmer-Schmidt for logging more than three million miles, accident-free, of which eight hundred thousand of those miles had been logged for Grimmer- Schmidt transporting air compressors manufactured in Franklin. At present, Monte has never had an accident, driving over six million miles since 1958. He was a member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge No. 135, F & A M and Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite. Monte loved watching sunrises. He loved traveling, especially out west. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and working on his semi. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and bringing them donuts. Rev. David Lee will conduct a celebration of life service on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin where a Masonic service will be conducted by the Nashville Masonic Lodge. Friends may call on Friday, March 5th from 3:00 p.m. to service time at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted immediately following the service at the funeral home.

    Monte was one of our great trucking buds, Dave and I meet Monte several years ago while hooked up with Mercer. An instant friendship developed and we kept in touch over the years. Monte has a beautiful 1977 Pete with custom sleeper he bought new and kept it running all these years. We, Dave and I, along with many other friends and family, will miss him….So long old buddy……..Bob
