Do you have one million (or two, or three) accident free miles at Mercer? If so, we want to recognize you. We’ve talked about this for years, but it never gained the traction it needed to go. It needs to happen and here’s how:

If you think you qualify, drop me a letter (handwritten is fine) in the TripPak listing your year to year mileage (according to your records) and any other documentation you may have that is pertinant.  Send me whatever you have. Don’t call me or e-mail me with it because that will slow down the review process. We will compare what you have with what we have and make a determination.  Include total miles.

If you qualify, we will advise you to come through Louisville to receive your award, have your truck lettered, and be photographed. Photographs of  Million Mile Award receipiants will hang in the main hallway in the Recruiting and Safety Building. We will also send the photos with a press release to all major trucking publications.

There are a bunch of you folks out there that we want to recognize.  Send me what you’ve got. Let’s finally make it happen.

You said include total miles. Does that mean deadhead miles will count?

deadhead miles don’t count twards safty bonus at end of year so you figure

deadhead miles don’t count on safety bonuses at the end of the year, yet if you have a accident while deadheading to get as load or in route to a load it takes away from your safety bonus’s for that yr……one way it don’t count yet another way it does count. if it counts IF you do have an accident while deadheading, and you loose safety credits..then if your safe driving thru out the yr (no tickets no accidents no claims) i think it should count towards your million mile award

What about teams? My wife stays home often. Do I have to try to figure the miles I have driven?

The main reason we haven’t done this in the past is that everyone is going to be different and some of the circumstances will be unique to each driver. On teams, give me your best estimate. I want the deadhead so I can get a complete picture of each driver. All I can tell you folks is to give me whatever you got. This is a big deal and I intend on being fair.

I agree with Mr. Mize Sr, this is why I don’t think that the Safety program we have is fare to all drivers……….

This is why i dont mess with stuff like this they always have a loophole to benifit them…

I don’t really understand what you’re saying Ronie. If we wanted to benefit ourselves, we would have no reward system at all. I think what Len is trying to do is great, and I realize that it will be a huge investment of time for him as well.

Actually, we have a contractor with a last name of Mercer, I am referring to Jim Mercer, one of the outstanding examples of what Mercer trans. is all about. Some of you might want to walk in his footsteps.

Mercer’s obligation is providing freight for contractors to haul and payment therof! Anything other than that is provided thru the recognising of management to contractors who do there job as professionals! Thanks to ALL who make this the BEST place to make a good living for me and my family. Be safe! because YOU matter to your Loved Ones.
