We received a report this morning from Dave Sanders, Mercer # 11323. Dave was inspected Sunday in Putnam, ON. The officer plugged a test unit into the data port in the cab and confirmed his speed limiter had been set to 100KPH. Dave said that they were checking everyone. A Canadian trucker’s data port revealed a 127KPH setting which got him a $390 ticket. At this point, at least they are not shutting folks down. When the ticket is paid, the trip can be continued. They will not be so generous on repeat offenders.

Bottom line: If you are going to truck in Ontario or Quebec, and your truck is a 1995 or newer, get by a dealer and get the speed limiter reflashed before you cross the border. They are checking.
